All I want to do is install the software, and do some printing. OH NO!
don't tell the printer that! I can't even install the software! I tried, I
got as far as detecting printer and I even got to go to the neighborhood
store waiting for it to detect the printer. same screen when I came back.
Sheesh So I tried the wizard. It says it is ready but there is a question
mark on the icon in the system tray. The wizard said it was ready to print
so I allowed it to do the test page. The printer works because it printed
two test pages before I hooked it up to my PC. I went to HP support and got
server errors when i tried to post there.

NOTHING Happened! But the damn thing said printing completed!
I ran the command line test and several others, it was a no go.

I have:

Is this a USB printer connection? I've had trouble with HP's USB in the
past.

Go to their web page and try downloading the latest driver. Uninstal
the old driver first before trying to install the new one. Make sure
the cable is connected correctly and is working, also.

When I opened the wizard up the printer was listed is that how you tell the
cable is fine? How do I test the cable?

You say the printer listing showed is that how you tell the cable is connected?
That is not a valid message.

I downloaded the new driver. Now it is having a error message that says my
black cartilage is defective or incompatible. So I downloaded the new
firmware,
and I am still getting the same message plus I still am not sure if the
printer is recognized.
I open the toolbox. I don't know the type cartilage's it takes so I clicked
on the find.
The toolbox popped up a message saying it could not find the printer
hardware.

I just checked the test sheet. there is black ink on it, with a checkmark
beside it.
So I kind of think the part about the black cartilage is defective or
incompatible is a bunch of crock.

Excuse me for being picky, but cartilage is in your joints, not in your
printer. Surely you mean cartridge.
